Seven-spoke 16″ wheels are mounted with staggered-width Dunlop tires. The Z1 is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, and the model introduced BMW’s multi-link “Z” axle design.
Bolstered seats are trimmed in gray microsuede upholstery with patterned inserts and body-color seatbacks. The car is equipped with air conditioning and a BMW Business CD player, the latter of which will require a security code to become unlocked. The side windows can be lowered independently of the doors, but retract automatically if the doors are lowered. Wear is depicted on portions of the seats and instrument binnacle.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames metric VDO instrumentation including a 240-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges monitoring fuel level and engine temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 8k kilometers (~5k miles), a handful of which have been added by the selling dealer. A mileage inconsistency is noted on the Carfax report in September 2016, and the seller notes the cabin heater is inoperative.
Power is provided by a 2.5-liter M20B25 inline-six paired with a five-speed Getrag manual transmission, both of which were shared with the contemporary E30 325i.
