Inspired by the BMW 507, the Henrik Fisker-designed Z8 features aluminum body panels installed over an aluminum space frame. This example is finished in Jet Black (668) and is equipped with xenon headlights, grille-mounted fog lights, neon turn signals and brake lights, front fender air extractors with BMW roundels, bright mirror caps, and twin exhaust outlets. A Ceramic Pro paint treatment was reportedly performed in 2019, and the seller notes scratches to the lower portion of the front bumper.
Silver 18″ split-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 245/45 front and 275/40 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and a set of black Alpina wheels is also included in the sale. The Z8 was equipped from the factory with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), All-Season Traction (AST), and Cornering Brake Control (CBC). The black soft top features a plastic rear window, and can be seen in the gallery along with photos of the color-matched hardtop.
The interior is trimmed in Créma leather with a matching lower dash, door panels, and carpeting. Amenities include heated power-adjustable seats, piano black trim, air conditioning, power windows and locks, leather-wrapped roll hoops, and a Harman-Kardon sound system with a six-disc CD changer. The stereo cover and underside of the trunk lid have been signed by Henrik Fisker.
The banjo-style steering wheel sits ahead of a centrally mounted 155-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an integrated analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer shows 27k miles, 3k of which were added by the seller.
The 4.9-liter S62 V8 features double VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, a double-row timing chain, and hollow camshafts. Factory-rated output was 394 horsepower and 368 lb-ft torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Dinan Performance software was installed in September 2001, and the BMW Performance Kit and replacement cooling system hoses were fitted by Peter Pan BMW of Burlingame, California in May 2011. The starter and battery were reportedly replaced under current ownership, along with new hood and trunk shocks.
The car is accompanied by two awards from the Art Center College of Design as well as manufacturer’s literature, car covers, a mobile phone, factory tools, service records, a factory coffee-table book wrapped in Créma leather, and 1:12-scale and 1:18-scale diecast models. A collection of factory spare parts is said to include an additional fabric top, a roll-bar-mounted windscreen, European-market sun visors, a cup-holder, a BMW rear-window protector, BMW Z8-branded shop fender protectors, and a Z8 leather key pouch.
