Alpina models debuted in 2003 after standard Z8 production ended, and this example was delivered new in Jet Black. Features include a removable hardtop as well as a black soft top, integrated front fog lights, xenon headlights, neon tail lights and turn indicators, and dual exhaust outlets. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.
Staggered-width 20″ wheels were manufactured by Ronal for Alpina, and they are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires showing 2002 date codes. The four-wheel disc brake system is equipped with Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), and the Alpina model received a softer suspension as compared to the standard Z8. Additional equipment includes Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and All-Season Traction (ASC).
The interior features black Nappa leather upholstery that extends from the power-adjustable seats to the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional amenities include a remote-entry system, air conditioning, power windows, and a stereo with navigation, a CD changer, and a Harman Kardon ten-speaker sound system.
A plaque mounted between the seats indicates that this chassis is number 151 of 555 in the series.
The three-spoke steering wheel with Switch-Tronic shift buttons frames an Alpina-branded gear indicator ahead of the driver, and centralized instrumentation includes a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and two auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates just 32 miles.
The 4.8-liter M62 V8 was shared with the contemporaneous B10 V8 S and was tuned by Alpina to produce 375 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
