The Alpina version of the Henrik Fisker-designed Z8 debuted in 2003 after standard Z8 production ended, and this example is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic (354). Inspired by the 507 of the 1950s, features include aluminum body panels mounted to an aluminum space frame, a removable body-color hardtop, neon tail lights and turn indicators, xenon headlights, integrated front fog lights, body-colored mirror housings, side vents incorporating BMW Roundels, and twin exhaust outlets. The black soft top was replaced in 2021, along with the rear window trim and mirror trim gaskets.
Staggered-width 20″ wheels with Alpina-logo center caps are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires measuring 255/35 up front and 285/30 out back. The four-wheel disc brake system is equipped with Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), and the Alpina model received a softer suspension compared to the standard Z8.
The interior features black Nappa leather upholstery that extends from the heated and power-adjustable seats to the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Features include a remote-entry system, an electrically adjustable steering column, air conditioning, and a stereo with navigation and a CD changer. The left window regulator was replaced in 2018, and the climate-control knobs were replaced in 2021 and the right seat motor and right-side window were repaired.
A plaque mounted between the seats indicates that this is chassis #211 of 555 in the series.
The three-spoke steering wheel with Switch-Tronic shift buttons sits ahead of an Alpina-branded gear indicator and centralized instrumentation that includes a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates under 17k miles, approximately 75 of which were added by the selling dealer.
The 4.8-liter M62 V8 was shared with contemporary B10 V8 S and was tuned by Alpina to produce 375 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Features include double VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, a double-row timing chain, and hollow camshafts, and power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed Switch-Tronic automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The starter and battery were replaced in 2021, along with fluids and filters.
