The GM truck lineup was redesigned in mid-1955, and this is a first-series example that shares bodywork with the previous model year. The body was disassembled and refinished in Isuzu Anthracite and Nissan Silver Crystal Metallic as part of the refurbishment. A rear-hinged side door was fabricated during the build, and other touches include chrome accents, and swing-out rear doors. The seller notes corrosion on the side mirrors and clear coat degradation on the roof and the tops of the fenders, photos of which are provided in the gallery below.
Wheelsmith 15″ wheels feature chrome trim rings and GMC-branded hubcaps and are fitted with Nexen and Provider tires. Disc brakes are fitted at all four corners, and the vehicle has been modified with a Mustang II-style front suspension setup and power rack-and-pinion steering.
The cabin features twin bucket seats and an adjustable rear bench trimmed in dark gray leather upholstery and accompanied by matching door panel inserts. The leather-trimmed center console houses a cup holder, a storage cubby, and switches for the power windows. Further additions include a Lokar shifter, a banjo-style steering wheel mounted to a tilting steering column, a Vintage Air climate-control system, LED accent lighting, and a Kenwood CD player.
A collection of Classic Instruments gauges consist of a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-tachometer, and auxiliary readouts. The six-digit odometer indicates that nearly 19k miles have been driven since the completion of the build, approximately 12k of which have been added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.
The cargo area features carpeted wheel wells, woodgrain side panels, a white headliner, and a pair of Focal speakers.
A 350ci V8 was installed in place of the factory 258ci inline-six during the build and is equipped with an Edelbrock carburetor and ceramic-coated exhaust headers. Additional features include a finned air cleaner and valve covers, an electric cooling fan, and a 27-gallon fuel tank. An oil change was performed and the spark plugs were replaced within the past year according to the seller.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an overdrive-equipped four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford-sourced differential. Additional photos showing the suspension, chassis, and driveline, as well as corrosion on portions of the mechanicals are presented in the gallery below.
