Finished from the factory in Honduras Maroon (948), the body was refinished in the current metallic red color according to the seller, who notes stress cracks on portions of the front fenders. The matching removable hardtop is shown fitted above, and the car was ordered without a soft top according to the seller. Additional features include a single side mirror, color-matched coves, creased rear fenders, and quad round taillights. The seller notes the hardtop does not fully align when fitted, and crazing is present on the right-side window of the hardtop. A garage-wall mounting storage system equipped with a hoist is included in the sale.
Staggered-width 17″ American Racing wheels feature a gray finish accented with polished lips and are fitted with Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires measuring 205/65 up front and 215/65 out back. Drum brakes are fitted all around, and service of the braking system included turning the drums, refurbishment of the hydraulic cylinders, and replacement of the shoes and lines . The car rides on replacement shocks and front stabilizer bushings that were fitted within the past two years. The steering gear was rebuilt, and a set of roller bearings replace the stock ball bearings on the front hubs
Inside, replacement black leather seating surfaces feature a factory-style pattern and are fitted over the stock frame. Matching leather treatments are present for the shift boot and 15″ steering wheel. The stock gauges were removed and cleaned by the seller and feature LED backlighting. They are housed within a cluster refinished in black enamel and topped with a matching replacement dash pad. A replacement windshield was fitted, and the weatherstripping on the doors, trunk, and deck replaced at that time.
Additional equipment includes a refurbished Wonderbar AM radio, a replacement clock, replacement foot pedals, and Crow lap harnesses for both occupants. The interior hard surfaces were refinished, and replacements were sourced for the passenger-side dash cove, grab bar, and emblems. An application of Dynamat sound insulation material lines the floors, tunnel, firewall, rear bulkhead, and door panels, and a replacement carpet kit is fitted over a 1/2″ layer of jute padding.
Factory instrumentation includes a sweeping 160-mph speedometer along with a centrally oriented tachometer flanked by gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, amperage, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer currently shows just under 99k miles, but does not advance. Actual mileage unknown, and the seller notes the signal seek function of the radio is inoperative.
The replacement 327ci V8 was rebuilt and fitted by the seller in 1996, and features hardened valve seats and the factory double-hump cylinder heads sourced from the removed factory engine. Additional equipment includes a PerTronix electronic ignition assembly, an aluminum flywheel, and a 3″ exhaust system linked to a pair of MagnaFlow mufflers. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a rebuilt Borg Warner T-10 four-speed manual transmission and a rebuilt rear end equipped with 3.70:1 gearing. Work completed within the past two years included a rebuild of the carburetor and replacement of the following components:
The removed factory block is shown above and displays the engine stamping 104614, which matches the vehicle’s serial number. Additionally, the RE suffix corresponds with the 327/340 engine equipped with a manual transmission and four-barrel carburetor. Per the seller, the block was Magnafluxed in preparation for the sale by Young’s Auto Supply & Machine in Redwood City, California.
