Delivered from the factory in Oslo Blue (6203), the car was repainted in its current Champagne Yellow under previous ownership, and the Karmann body tag was modified to reflect the color change. Features include body-color bumpers with chrome bumperettes, aluminum side molding strips, a driver-side mirror, and a Karmann badge riveted to the right fender. LED headlights and a third-brake light were installed under the seller’s ownership.
The chrome 15″ ventilated wheels feature Porsche-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 165/80 Metric Radial TR tires. A painted spare wheel with a Nankang tire is mounted in the front trunk. Replacement shocks and a steering damper were reportedly installed under the seller’s ownership. Braking is handled by finned drums at all four corners.
The cabin features seating surfaces trimmed in brown upholstery along with a matching dash pad and door panels. Oatmeal square-weave carpets were installed under the seller’s ownership and are protected by rubber mats. Features include a heater, lap belts, and an inoperable Sanyo AM/FM/cassette radio. Rust is noted in the floor pans and can be seen up close in the gallery.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a body-color metal dashboard housing VDO instrumentation including a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows under 58k miles, 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 1.6-liter flat-four features dual Weber carburetors. An oil change was reportedly performed in August 2021.
Engine stamping *704029* corresponds to a Type 616/12 Super flat-four built in 1962 for a 1963 T6 356B.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. Case stamping 66129 can be seen in the gallery and matches the Kardex below. A new transaxle seal, a battery, and a replacement shift coupler were installed under the seller’s ownership along with an electric fuel pump, which augments the factory unit by operating for 10 seconds prior to a cold start. Rust is noted around the torsion bars and behind the transaxle.
The Kardex copy lists the original colors and component numbers as well as delivery in the US through Hoffman Motor Car Company.
