The car was reportedly refinished in its factory shade of Candy Apple Red (T) in 1991 and features a power-operated black soft top with a glass rear window, a left-side mirror, and chrome-finished bumpers, rocker panels, and trim. The seller reports replacement of the right-front fender at the time of the repaint.
Chrome 14″ wheels wear red Mustang-emblem center caps and are mounted with 205/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, which are said to have been mounted in 1991. KYB shock absorbers have been fitted, and the seller notes that the rear leaf springs were replaced with heavy-duty components under current ownership. The factory brake master cylinder was replaced with a dual-bowl conversion kit, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. Recent service included replacement of the strut rod and sway bar bushings.
The Deluxe interior features seating surfaces upholstered in black vinyl (66) with pony graphics and matching door panels and carpeting. Additional equipment includes an aftermarket padded center console with cupholders, woodgrain dashboard trim, and an AM/FM Stereosonic radio with an eight-track player and Bluetooth capability.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer flanked by auxiliary gauges displaying oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer has rolled over once and now shows 72k miles. Approximately 90k miles were added by the seller, and total mileage is unknown.
The 289ci V8 features a single two-barrel carburetor and was rebuilt and prepped for unleaded fuel in 1991. The California-market Thermactor air pump and emissions equipment remains, and the seller notes that a Pertronix ignition system has been installed. The engine was removed in 2020 and the front and rear main seals were replaced along with fitment of a three-row radiator, high-volume water pump, and replacement timing cover.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a 2.80:1 rear axle. The transmission shift seal was replaced earlier this year along with the vacuum modulator and transmission cooling lines, and the exhaust and fuel system components were replaced in 2019.
