The bus was factory-finished in Sea Blue with Cumulus White and was repainted under previous ownership in Mouse Grey and Pearl White separated by polished waistline moldings with red plastic inserts. Features include rocker-panel trim with red inserts, dual side mirrors, Safari-style windshield panels, sliding door windows, six hinged side windows, eight skylights, and a sliding canvas sunroof. White-painted bumpers feature overriders/guard bars and polished corner trim with black rubber strips. The windows were replaced using VW Sekurit glass.
White-painted 14″ steel wheels wearing branded chrome hubcaps are wrapped in Coker Classic whitewall tires, and a covered spare is stowed vertically in a half-depth well on the left-rear deck. The steering kingpins were rebuilt in 2016. Replacement drum brakes are equipped at the corners.
The cabin is reported to have been refurbished under previous ownership and is trimmed in two-tone Basalt Gray and Ivory vinyl and features a perforated headliner and door/interior panels with checked inserts. The front bucket seats are equipped with Wolfsburg-crested seat belts, as are both rows of bench seating. Additional appointments include an overhead fresh-air vent assembly, an under-dash package tray, and black rubber floor mats.
The white two-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg-crest center cap and fronts an 80-mph VDO speedometer joined on the white-painted metal dash by a replacement fuel-level gauge, a Sapphire III push-button AM radio, an analog electric clock, and a passenger grab handle. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles, 330 of which are said to have been driven since 2016. True mileage is unknown. The dash-mounted analog clock has not been converted for use with the 12-volt system and is inoperative.
The passenger compartment features curb-side access through a set of side doors opening on the middle- and rear-row bench seats that accommodate two and three across, respectively.
The 1.6-liter flat-four is a Type 2 engine of 1971 vintage that was installed in 2016 and is equipped with a replacement 34 Pict-3 carburetor, a 12-volt distributor, and an on-board battery maintenance device. The oil cooler, fuel pump, thermostat, thermostat flaps, preheat tube, intake manifold, and ignition wires were replaced, and the engine lid was resealed in 2016.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle for which the clutch, shift-rod bushings, and seals were replaced during the 2016 refurbishment.
