Torq Thrust-style 15″ American Racing wheels with polished lips wear 225/60 front and 245/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. The suspension was fitted with Scott Drake shock absorbers and progressive rate springs, a RideTech front sway bar, and replacement control arms, strut rod bushings, and sway bar endlinks. The tie rods were replaced and a four-wheel power disc brake conversion kit was also installed.
The cabin features SCAT Procar front buckets and a rear bench seat trimmed in black vinyl with matching carpets and Mustang-logo carpeted floor mats. Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, hand-crank windows, Vintage Air air conditioning, and a retro-look stereo connected to aftermarket speakers.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a replacement tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and battery charging status. An additional Bosch readout for coolant temperature is mounted beneath the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 99k miles, 1k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement Ford 390ci FE V8 was rebuilt in 2015 by Burtonsville Performance Machine Service in Laurel, Maryland, with refurbished cylinder heads, forged pistons, a Crane hydraulic flat tappet camshaft with 0.537 lift and 288° duration, and new main and rod bearings, pushrods, rocker arms, valves, springs, lifters, seals, and gaskets. Additional features include finned Cobra Le Mans-branded valve covers, an American Autowire wiring harness, MSD electronic ignition, a March Performance aluminum pulley kit and billet alternator, and an aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan. Induction is via Holley carburetor on an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold. The dual exhaust system features an H-pipe and is fed by JBA headers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed Ford Toploader manual transmission and a Ford 9″ limited-slip differential. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
