A refurbishment said to have been completed in 2014 included refinishing the exterior in the factory Garnet Red with black stripes. Features include chrome bumpers and window trim as well as front and rear spoilers, driving lights, a cowl induction hood, and dual exhaust outlets.
Silver-finished 15″ rally-style wheels with polished trim rings and hub caps are mounted with Firestone Wide Oval F70 tires. Stopping is provided by power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes, and power steering is fitted.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl with matching door panels and carpets, as well as woodgrain trim accenting the black dashboard. Amenities include Z/28-branded floor mats, manual crank windows, and an AM/FM stereo.
A rosewood three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while additional gauges mounted on the center console display readouts for amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
Z/28 examples were powered by a 302ci V8 that featured a forged steel crankshaft, domed aluminum pistons, and a solid-lifter camshaft from the factory, and the numbers-matching engine is said to have been rebuilt as part of the 2014 refurbishment. Service in September 2021 reportedly include an oil change, carburetor adjustment, and spark plug replacement.
The engine code stamp ends in DZ, which is consistent with a 302ci engine for use in a Z/28 for the 1969 model year. A selection of stamping images are shown in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle, and a chambered exhaust system is fitted.
