The car was delivered new in Grabber Blue (J), and it was placed on a rotisserie and repainted in its current blue during a refurbishment performed under previous ownership. Features include black Boss 302 “hockey-stick” side stripes that continue down the hood as well as a front air dam, color-keyed racing mirrors, rear window louvers, black taillight-panel treatment, and a rear wing.
The 15″ Magnum 500-style wheels wear 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Power-assisted front disc brakes were standard equipment on the 1970 Boss 302.
The cockpit features high-back bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl along with a matching dashboard, center console, door panels, and carpets. Features include gray three-point seatbelts, a roll bar, a Pioneer cassette stereo, a Hurst T-handle shifter.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer surrounded by auxiliary gauges. Additional auxiliary gauges are fitted ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows under 52k miles, 1,500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The G-code 302ci Boss V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and was advertised to produce 290 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque when new. An aftermarket camshaft and a vacuum reservoir were fitted under previous ownership. A replacement alternator was installed by the selling dealer in preparation for the sale, along with an MSD Blaster ignition coil, spark plug wires, and fresh fluids. Results from a recent compression test showing between 165 and 175 psi across all eight cylinders can be seen in the gallery.
Engine stamping 143640 matches the last six digits of the car’s VIN, though the 0E12 casting code viewable in the gallery corresponds to a May 12, 1970 build date.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 3.91:1 Traction-Lok differential. A clutch bell housing scatter shield is fitted. The high-flow exhaust system features long-tube headers with dual Flowmaster mufflers.
The shipping invoice is dated December 12, 1969, and lists the car’s departure from the Dearborn Assembly Plant to Fred Jones Ford. The factory build sheet and window sticker can be seen in the gallery below.
A collection of refurbishment photos are presented in the gallery.
