The Super Beetle was offered solely as a cabriolet during its final year on sale to the North American market in 1979. This example is finished in Florida Blue and features a manually-operated tan soft top with a heated glass rear window. Additional equipment includes running boards, rear-fender stone guards, dual side-view mirrors, and impact bumpers with rub strips. A Karmann body tag is affixed to the right fender.
Silver 15″ Lemmerz wheels are mounted with older Continental whitewall radial tires, and a matching spare is located in the front trunk. Standard features included four-wheel independent suspension as well as rack-and-pinion steering. Stopping power is provided by drums at all four corners.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black basketweave vinyl along with color-coordinated door panels and body-color metal surfaces. Equipment includes salt-and-pepper carpets, a black rubber floor mat, an auxiliary heater, a quartz analog clock, woodgrain dash trim, a locking glovebox, door storage pockets, and three-point front seatbelts.
A four-spoke steering wheel wears a Wolfsburg-crest center cap and fronts an 85-mph speedometer with an inset fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 190 miles, 150 of which were added by the late owner.
The air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four is equipped with fuel injection and was factory rated at 48 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle.
