The forged centers of the 16″ BBS RS wheels are painted gold and the lips have been polished, and 225/50 Goodyear Efficient Grip tires are mounted at each corner. A factory spare wheel with a Pirelli tire is stored in the trunk. M5s produced from October 1986 onward had 25mm front and 18mm rear sway bars, and braking is handled by ventilated front and solid rear discs with an anti-lock system. The brake fluid was flushed in March 2023.
Anthracite buffalo leather upholstery covers the heated and power-adjustable front sport seats, and matching leather wraps the dashboard, steering column, center console, sun visors, overhead console, and door panels. The M-Technic 1 steering wheel is wrapped in leather and accented by Motorsport-motif stripes, as is the shift knob. Instrumentation consists of a 280 km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,900-rpm redline as well as auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 252k kilometers (~157k miles), approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.5-liter S38B35 inline-six was serviced in March 2023 by La Jolla Independent BMW Service in San Diego, California with an oil change and a replacement distributor cap and accessory belts, and the expansion tank and battery were replaced at the same time and the air conditioning system refrigerant was recharged.
Coorespondence from BMW indicates that the car was delivered with motor number 60533994, and this number is displayed on the motor in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag 280 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
