BMW introduced the M3 Evolution as a limited-production homologation model beginning with the 1987 model year, and the Sport Evolution was produced for 1990. Compared to the M3 Evolution, the Sport Evolution featured increased power, a smaller fuel tank, and revised bodywork including front and rear spoilers with adjustable extensions, wider front fenders, and reprofiled grille slats.
