The ZR-1 was sold between 1990 and 1995, and this example is one of 121 finished in black for the final model year. Exterior details include a removable fiberglass roof panel, a roof-mounted brake light, fender vents, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, squared-off taillights, and rotating hidden headlights. A transparent blue roof panel is housed in the rear hatch.
Staggered-width 17″ five-spoke wheels are wrapped in 275/40 front and 315/35 rear Goodyear Eagle GS-C tires. ZR-1 equipment included the Performance Handling Package as well as the FX3 Selective Ride and Handling package, which added electronically adjustable Bilstein shock absorbers. Braking is provided by four-wheel anti-lock discs.
The cockpit features six-way power-adjustable black leather sport seats with Corvette logos embroidered into their headrests as well as color-coordinated trim, carpets, and floor mats. Equipment includes automatic climate control, a tire pressure warning system, cruise control, a Delco/Bose Gold Series CD and cassette stereo, and power windows and locks. A key inserted into the center console controls the induction system and allows for either “normal” or “full” engine power.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a central digital speedometer and fuel readout flanked by an analog tachometer and gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, and voltage. The digital odometer indicates approximately 145 miles, 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The front-hinged hood opens to reveal a 5.7-liter LT5 V8 that features an aluminum block and four overhead camshafts. Unique to the ZR-1, the engine was designed in conjunction with Lotus and assembled by Mercury Marine in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Factory rated output in full power mode was 405 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. An oil change and multi-point inspection were performed in September 2021 by Gary Russ Chevrolet in Greenwood, South Carolina.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.
A car cover, service records, manufacturer’s literature, two sets of keys, and a ZR-1 VHS tape are included in the sale along with a window sticker showing the $31,258 ZR–1 Special Performance Package and a total price of $69,553.
