The Marcello Gandini-designed Diablo was joined by the “viscous traction,” or VT, variant in 1993 as a four-wheel-drive alternative to the standard model. The Marcello Gandini-designed Diablo was joined by the “viscous traction,” or VT, variant in 1993 as a four-wheel-drive alternative to the standard model. The VT carried over much of its rear-wheel-drive counterpart’s exterior styling but with air intakes added below the driving lights and enlarged scoops ahead of the rear wheels.
This example is finished in Blu Scuro and features a rear wing, pop-up headlights, fog lights, and a body-color carbon-fiber roof panel that attaches to the rear decklid when removed. An aftermarket quad-exit exhaust system has been added, and removed exhaust components are included in the sale. Evidence of paintwork performed under previous ownership is noted by the selling dealer.
The replacement 18″ OZ Racing wheels are mounted with 235/35 front and 335/30 rear Pirelli P Zero tires showing 2003 and 2005 date codes. A removed set of four 17″ multi-piece OZ Racing wheels with Pirelli tires is included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery. Stopping power is provided by Brembo calipers at all four corners.
The cockpit features seats trimmed in beige leather along with a matching lower dash, center console, door panels, and lower rear bulkhead. Features include a contrasting black dashtop, carpets, and sills as well as power windows, automatic climate control, an Alpine CD player, and a gated shifter.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 340-km/h speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and oil temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 31k kilometers (~20k miles), approximately 1,100 kilometers of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.7-liter V12 features dual overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, and electronic multi-point fuel injection. Output was rated at 485 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque when new.
Power is sent to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt by Automobielbedrijf Guus van Eijk of The Netherlands in 2017. A replacement clutch and a modified viscous coupling were also fitted that year.
A Swedish-market Carfax report provided by the selling dealer can be seen in the gallery.
