The Z8 was designed by Henrik Fisker as an homage to the 507 model of the 1950s, and this example is finished in Bright Red (Hellrot 314) with a black soft top. Details include neon turn signals and taillamps, kidney grilles with integrated fog lights, chrome side vents and mirror housings, and dual exhaust outlets. Both xenon headlights were replaced in April 2021 along with the windshield and the left rocker cover. The front bumper cover was also refinished, and the body-colored hardtop received a new headliner. Paint meter readings taken from various panels are pictured in the gallery below.
Split-spoke 18″ wheels feature BMW roundel center caps and wear Bridgestone Potenza RE-040 tires measuring 245/45 up front and 275/40 out back. Standard equipment for the Z8 included aluminum suspension components, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Brake Control, and All-Season Traction.
The cockpit is trimmed in black leather with piano black accents as well as matching carpets and floor mats. Amenities include heated and power-adjustable seats, a power-operated soft top, a banjo-spoke steering wheel, and stitched roll hoop upholstery.
The central instrument panel houses a 155-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The odometer shows 26k miles, approximately 400 of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 4.9-liter S62 V8 was shared with the contemporary E39 M5, and was factory rated at 394 horsepower with 368 lb-ft of torque. A Performance Package strut tower brace and upper strut mount reinforcements were installed in April 2021. An oil change was also performed and the water temperature sensor, thermostat, and coolant replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
The original sales invoice from BMW of Darien, Connecticut, lists a total price of $142,537 in 2001.
Owner’s manuals are housed in a Z8-branded leather case. Also included in the sale are a spare key, a fitted car cover, a hardtop stand and cover, and service records.
