Designed by Wolfgang Egger at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the production 8C Competizione was introduced at the 2006 Paris Motor Show. It revived the 8C name originally used for Alfa Romeo’s eight-cylinder racing cars of the 1930s and featured styling cues from the company’s post-war sporting cars across its carbon-fiber body panels, which are supported by a steel space frame. The 8C Spider was unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. This example is finished in Rosso 8C Metallic and features xenon headlights, fog lights, fender vents, Quadrifoglio shields, a carbon-fiber windshield frame, and a power-operated black convertible top.
The 20″ five-spoke alloy wheels are finished in matte gray and are mounted with 245/35 front and 285/35 rear Pirelli P Zero tires. Stopping power is provided by red Alfa Romeo-branded Brembo calipers over cross-drilled carbon-ceramic rotors at all four corners.
The cockpit features carbon-fiber seats trimmed in red leather along with matching door panels. A contrasting black dashboard and carpets are fitted, and the dashboard and center console feature brushed aluminum and carbon-fiber trim. Additional equipment includes dual-zone climate control, a Becker CD stereo, navigation, black floor mats with red piping, and dual roll hoops.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel features aluminum spokes ahead of paddle shifters and frames a 210-mph speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, and digital readouts for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows 206 miles.
The plaque mounted on the carbon-fiber center console lists the car as #149 of a planned 500 examples.
Designed by Ferrari and Maserati, the 4.7-liter F136 YC V8 featured a 90° bank angle and a cross-plane crankshaft. It produced 444 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 354 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm when new. Fresh fluids were reportedly added in October 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed semi-automatic transaxle that can be operated in five different modes of automatic or paddle-controlled shifting. A limited-slip differential was standard.
A set of Alfa Romeo-branded garment bags are included in the sale along with factory books and accessories.
